A mirror is an exact copy of a site placed on a separate server from the original so that a) all of the bandwidth doesn't hit one server, and b) people in different areas of the world can have a copy on a server nearer to them.
We copy data from source sites all over the world, updating our copies at least once a day. By using our mirrors, users can get rapid access to a variety of popular Internet resources, even if the source site is unavailable or overloaded. By having us as a mirror, source sites can reduce their load.
